There is a tender suckling plant growing up before the Lord.
He grows like a root out of the parched ground where no water is.
He can't rely on things around him to supply him the things he needs,
Neither can he trust in the sun or the rain for life is in the Lord our God!

Chorus:
I thirst! Lord, I thirst!
My soul yearns for Thee in a dry and barren land where no water is!
Oh God, Thou art my God!
Early will I seek Thee! Earnestly will I seek Thee!
My soul waits and thirsts for Thee! My soul follows hard after Thee,
For You are my hope!

Father, I know that one day that tender young plant will grow to be a tree,
A steadfast tree of righteousness planted for Your glory.
But sometimes not quite understanding he rejects the things he needs,
And he tries to draw life from other things that he sees, from even the thorns and the weeds.
But by Thy tender mercies gather him back to Your side, and show him,
Oh Lord, that apart from You nothing can satisfy!

(Chorus)

Father, I know that I am that tender young plant growing up before You Lord.
Growing like a root out of the parched ground where no water is.
Teach me to stand and feed in Your strength, in the majesty of Your name.
Teach me to trust in You with all my heart for in You, Oh God, the channel of life is full!
Because in You, Oh God, the channel of life is full!
And in You, Oh God, the channel of life is full!
