visions A Day on the
Virginia
Appalachian Trail

Excerpts from the book...

"We rode around looking for the one peak that was designated on the map in the vicinity of the parkway where we were. The problem was the map was very obscure about where the mountain was. We rode around for hours not realizing we had seen the mountain several times."

"When I started hiking back in the early 90's I only went to a few seclusive spots because of their beauty, proximity and access. And I went to them again and again. They were my fortresses of solitude and i shared them with my family and friends; the meadows of Cold Mountain, Rhododendron Gap and Apple Orchard Mountain."

"So I just continued on my solo quest of "beauty" spots fairly close to home, and the quickest, easiest route of hiking (even if it meant little or no hiking at all.) I prided myself in knowing the parking to the shortest hiking to the coolest spots within a 150 mile radius of home."
